ARELLANO LAW DEBATE TEAM:
SEASON 1 ANC SQUARE-OFF CHAMPIONS

Arellano Law Forensic Guild won against the Ateneo de Davao debating team in the final round of the ANC Square off: The CVC Law debates, yesterday, October 8, 2008 with the proposition, Let it be resolved that: The term of elected local officials should be lifted."

The debaters were Rochelle Marie C. Roxas, a fourth year executive class student and President of the Forensic Guild together with Luis Anthony K. Warren, a graduating student and Charles Francis Decangchon, a freshman. They were hailed as the "best in the land" and the Square-off season one's finest debaters topping all other law schools in said competition.

Ms. Roxas said in an interview that the process of elimination itself was not easy. With the right preparation and positive perspective, no matter how tough the challenges were, we stayed strong. Ours was a formidable team, indeed. Besides, the support of the whole Arellano Community was clearly felt. Our tatay bubut was our everything, and he gave all the debaters their needs, prayed and cheered for us, she added.

Mr. Luis Anthony Warren was adjudged as the Texter's Choice for Best Speaker and the Judges' Choice as Best Speaker during the final match. Ms. Roxas was likewise recognized twice as the Judges' Choice for Best Speaker during the Elimination and Quarter-Finals of the debate.

Mr. Decangchon, meanwhile enjoyed the given opportunity and said that it was indeed a humbling experience. "Everything fell right into place, we were blessed. Thank you Arellano," he said.

All competing law schools underwent a rigorous process of elimination. Arellano Law bested four other law schools in the country for the whole duration of season one's competition which started on June 2008 and ended October 8, 2008, to wit;

Eliminations- Arellano vs San Sebastian; Quarter-finals- Arellano vs UST; Semi-Finals- Arellano vs Ateneo de Manila University; Finals- Arellano vs Ateneo de Davao.

The members of the panel of adjudicators were represented by a member of the Philippine Judges Association, A Senior Partner of the CVC Law Firm and a prominent figure/ expert on the proposition in the country. Square-off ANC CVC Law debates is held and aired live every Wednesday at 8pm at Channel 27 via Skycable.
